My kids have been saving their allowence for a wooden swing set. Mostly the like the fort areas.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get a new one on a 200-300$ budget?
Does anyone know if it really is cheaper to buy the kit, plans and lumber seperatly?

Try getting free plans online, buy the lumber and accessories and do it yourself.
Buying a “kit” is alway’s going to save you money, but it is not always the best way to go. “Fort” style swingsets are not cheap though. they will range in price from $500 – to upwards of $1,000, depending on the quality and safety features you want your children to have. more expensive does not guarentee better. Good Luck, and good job kid’s saving for what you want. not many people do that (especially kids) anymore. ATABOY Kid’s, you rock.
If you or your kids are not opposed to it, see if anyone in your area is getting rid of one that they no longer using. Check craigslist or a similar yahoo group you can join called “freecycle”. That is how I got a decent one for my 5 and 3 year old.
Be advised, ALOT of effort was in the disassembly and reassembly, but they are happy with it. It did not cost me much if you do not count the time, labor and replacement cost of some of the parts I bought at the hardware store
. If you do find one this way you will need a minivan or pickup truck to transport it. (And take a lot of pictures for reference!!!)
